What Was The Greatest Goal Of The 21st Century? Ovi's Of Course.

I don't know who voted on this or what the criteria was, but they are right- This is the greatest goal of the 21st Century. If the criteria isn't "important goals" but rather remarkable, eye-opening goals, Ovi's is the one. Also, we are apparently ignoring the century doesn't end until December 31, 2100. But that's okay still, because Ovi's is still the one. It's a goal we will never see duplicated. Everyone and their mother can do the Michigan now. That's old hat. But this goal was...well...once in a Century. It was perfect. His ability to keep control of the puck and have the wherewithal to still shoot it at the net while backward on his back, it doesn't get better.

Now, people love saying it isn't even that great because it's "a fluke". But isn't that what separates Ovi from the rest of the pack? His ability to score these types of goals. That's what greatness is to me, as most other players wouldn't find themselves in this position and still be able to make a play out of it. So when some say fluke, I say innate talent that cannot be taught or learned, it's just a DNA gene of greatness.

The sick thing about hockey is every night you can pick out a goal and be like "that's impossible". And then fucking dunks get on the SportsCenter top 10. That always made me mad. Connor McDavid going coast to coast, weaving in and out of the entire opposing teams and then going top shelf should be the number 1 play of the night every single night. The shit Cale Makar does with the puck should be the number 1 play every night.

There are so many great goals that I probably could hear an argument for a dozen others, but the sheer amazement of seeing Ovi's goal takes the cake for me.

Other awesome goals off the top of my head right now:

Tyler Ennis:

Tomas Hertl:

McDavid:

Another McDavid because he's the fastest human being in the world:

Rick Nash:

Love this Blake Coleman goal:

And one more Ovi goal just for fun:

Fine, one more. God I miss hockey.
